Author Biography

Well, what should I write here? I'm the oldest of some would say a gang or football team and we all grew up in circumstances that would be considered harsh. Unfortunately, this was normal for us, but at 19 years of age I left home in search of something, anything new.
What inspired me to write my book was what I learned on these "new" adventures and how they could help and inspire others to overcome the most challenging moments in their own lives.

Reading Balancing Dark with Light by Anthony D. Vaughn is like following the steps of Siddhartha toward his vision of Enlightenment. It is as if author Vaughn traveled through many incarnations on the road to his self-acceptance and the realization of his life’s mission. And what a mind-bending journey he shares with his reader, like a flower opening. He was born into a chaotic inner-city environment in industrial Indiana, the eldest of nine children of whom, because of drug-addicted parents, he was mainly in charge. In his neighborhood, one source of entertainment was to view taped-off crime scenes and dead bodies in the streets. The spotty promise he showed as a student and athlete was impossible to fulfill in a milieu of crack cocaine, weed, and alcohol.

Through his many phases searching for the meaning of life, Anthony D. Vaughn, with “charm and charisma,” eventually found himself in a meditation ashram in South Korea, then on a stand-up comedy stage in LA! Though his prose does not reveal the polish of a seasoned writer, it is clear, direct, and most of all honest. He defines his purpose as “to help heal the world and make it a better place in a way that’s open, inspiring, and sincere.” How? By courageously sharing his story. That story is a long and winding journey of self-revelation. I couldn’t help but feel his sincerity as a writer. With Balancing Dark with Light, Anthony D. Vaughn becomes an awesome role model and guide for all those seeking self-identity and purpose in their lives.
