Each of us has our dreams and aspirations, but sometimes fate has something better and more meaningful in store for us. Bethlehem's First Christmas by AJ Willemse is one such story. Esther wanted nothing more than to travel the world and get away from the humdrum town of Bethlehem with her brother Daniel. However, because her parents owned the town inn, they wanted Esther to help run the business while Daniel prepared to explore the outside world by himself. Resigned to her fate, Esther prayed to God to allow her to travel. One day a mysterious stranger named Joseph came to their door, seeking help for his pregnant wife Mary who was about to give birth. Esther must take it upon herself to become the midwife during the birth of Jesus Christ.

AJ Willemse tells the riveting tale of the birth of Jesus Christ and a young woman who helped make it possible at the advent of the first Christmas. Bethlehem's First Christmas lives up to its name and follows the story of a young woman who finds her destiny in circumstances she could never have imagined. Willemse's narrative sheds light on the age-old adage that "God works in mysterious ways." While it was true that Esther didn't always get what she wished for, she became a part of something greater. The beautifully drawn illustrations bring the characters to life and make the tale enthralling to read. This is a children's picture book that even adults will find endearing.

A wonderful book that describes the first Christmas in modern language. Illustrations bring the story to life and provide an intuitive quality lacking in many books today.

Your purchase of this book will provide you with a timeless treasure that can be cherished for a lifetime.

This story is heartfelt and written compassionately. It shows how God always rewards us with more to what we desire, as long as we keep faith in his plan for us. As a believer, I find this story faith encouraging, I find it to be a story of value to mankind. I enjoyed the book!

“Trust in the Lord. You never know, someday you might be happy you had to stay in Bethlehem." So speaks the father of young Esther, whom the reader meets in the wonderful book "Bethlehem's First Christmas" by AJ Willemse. And because of the Divine miracle that she witnesses, Esther IS happy she stayed in Bethlehem-- and the reader is happy she stayed too!

AJ Willemse invites children of all ages to think deeply about how Jesus was born of Mary so long ago in the stable. "Bethlehem's First Christmas" kindles the imagination of what it may have been like and how the birth of Christ has changed everything.

Children will relate to the story and the colorful pictures. Through this book, they will be led more deeply into the Gospel accounts from Luke and Matthew and learn to love the Bible. As soon as I read it, I knew I would be reading it again with my grandchildren. I am thankful for this blessing and know it will bless many others.
