The novel, Black Hawk Day Rewind by Dominick Fencer and Baibin Nighthawk, centers on the life of Barnett Cooper, a reluctant British agent who finds himself being hunted by the beautiful CIA agent, Anaïs Degann. Barnett’s father was a military man and he grew up resenting his father and his frequent absences from the family home. Barnett wanted to be a doctor and his father wanted him to follow in his footsteps. When his father died, Barnett goes on to medical school and fulfills his heart’s desire. On a university exchange program in Argentina, he meets Professor Zimmerman and his life takes a completely different path. He becomes Mark Savannah and is thrust into the clandestine world of espionage. Then he comes face to face with assassin Anaïs and discovers a sinister secret deep within the CIA.

Black Hawk Day Rewind is a fast paced thriller that is bound to keep you reading until the wee hours of the morning. Written by Baibin Nighthawk and Dominick Fencer, the story is obviously well researched. From a seemingly normal household, the plot brings the reader into a world engulfed in secrecy, betrayal and violence. The world of espionage, however, also offers friendship, loyalty and love. As Barnett Cooper undergoes a metamorphosis and becomes Mark Savannah, there is a sudden but smooth shift in the tone of the story. The characters in the story are well developed and each of them is quite interesting. This is a novel that will turn a boring day into a thought-provoking one as we follow the life of Barnett Cooper alias Mark Savannah, student, spy, lover and psychiatrist, as he tries to confront his past and at the same time find happiness in life.

Black Hawk Day Rewind by Dominick Fencer and Baibin Nighthawk is a tale of the war on terror and the human costs for some of the brave men and women fighting it. Like many books about the military, it is primarily a story about a son coming to terms with who his father really was and, in the process, becoming a man himself. Barnett Cooper was thirteen years old when an Army Lieutenant knocked on the door and told his mother how his father had died a hero's death in the Battle of Mogadishu. His father was subsequently awarded the Medal of Honor, but Barnett wasn't proud and, in fact, refused to look at the medal after the funeral. His relationship with his father was an antagonistic one. They had very different personalities and he didn't respect his father or want anything to do with the military. However, fate has a way of working itself out and years later, after finishing Medical School and his PhD in Psychiatry, he finds himself not only a Special Forces soldier like his father but an intelligence operative hot on the trail of the man who betrayed his father and caused his death.

Baibin Nighthawk and Dominick Fencer have put together a realistic and complex portrait of the war on terror. Black Hawk Day Rewind focuses on the psychological cost that Barnett pays in being the son of a hero. Step by surprising step he learns that his father and, indeed his mother, were not the people he thought they were. This book is a gritty look at the family cost involved for men and women in the U.S. armed forces. Black Hawk Day Rewind is intense and realistically written. Action and Adventure fans of all ages will love it. Veterans and children of veterans will definitely relate. A must read for enthusiast of modern military life.

Black Hawk Day Rewind by Dominick Fencer and Baibin Nighthawk is an explosive novel to awaken the senses. From CIA and double-crossing agents to drug smuggling and experiments, this book has it all. Mark Savannah is the lead character who has outgrown his uses as a special agent. He lost his dad in this field of work and began to wrestle with his demons to take up the same line of occupation. As his life becomes even more complicated, he now has an elite female assassin after him, but for Mark, it is just another day at the office.

Dominick Fencer and Baibin Nighthawk deliver a brilliant novel in Black Hawk Day Rewind. The book began slowly, but after the first couple of chapters I was completely engrossed. The plot was very clever although complicated in places; for me this was all the more challenging. There were several lead characters as well as Savannah. I especially liked the female assassin. Her cool thinking and her 007 qualities are the dream of every girl, but it was so nice to see her vulnerable side emerge. Without giving too much away, the brain experiments were literally mind boggling. It was an amazing concept and although on several occasions I had to re-read to digest everything, it made for a truly awesome additive book.

Overall, the authors have a well thought out plot and very strong characters which give this book some spice. I cannot wait until the second book is released and I would highly recommend this one. It has a bit of everything all wrapped up in one book and I guarantee you will become completely lost within its pages.
