Myrielle Glassman's attention to detail is exceptional, painting a vivid picture of every moment in the story. The pages are full of adventure, from the magical forest Meara traverses to the intense battle scenes. Meara's strengths are evident through her fighting skills and immunity to Fae magic. However, her inner turmoil and hopelessness were flaws that could result in defeat. Tamsen was a complex character with familial problems. He also had a dark side to him that he struggled to control, making him a dangerous adversary. The plot is unpredictable and captivating. The conversations between Meara and Tamsen are particularly intriguing as they compare what they have learned and challenge each other's beliefs. Blood of Fire will appeal to dark fantasy readers who enjoy watching opposing sides join forces against a common enemy.

Myrielle Glassman uses intriguing teasers to immerse the reader into the story, as seen from the opening chapters, where there is plenty of talk about how the war reached its current point but a big mystery concerning why it started in the first place. The character development is impressive. Each of the principal actors in the war has an origin story unique enough to spin another tale around it. The magical creatures that Meara encounters while on her quest are detailed. What I particularly like about them is the way Glassman creates origins for some of the dangerous ones that link them to popular children's fables but have a frightening edge. An example is the Maigh Maru, whose history is just as scary as its method of dispatching opponents. Glassman’s storytelling style is engaging. She uses the conversations between Meara and Tamsen to draw the reader into this magical world and give a deeper understanding of the factions in this conflict and the mortal who has a role to play in ending it. Blood Of Fire is a fantasy genre fan's dream novel.
