In Breaking Free (Good to Go), Jeffrey Vonk travels to feel free and alive. He doesn’t believe in tourist traps and resorts, and it doesn’t matter if he’s alone in a desert, visiting a stranger’s home, or raising dust with a motorcycle, he is free to go where he wants, when he wants, and relishes living in the moment. Jeffrey's excitement about travel is contagious and his colorful descriptions of places and people are thrilling. Traveling with Jeffrey in Breaking Free, readers are taken on a thrilling ride as they hike with him along the Great Wall of China, sneak into a base camp at Mount Everest, and view the magnificent Himalayas. There is much, much more delightful travel antics, wonderment, and even disappointments here. Breaking Free is a spellbinding book worthy of any armchair traveler’s bookshelf.

Breaking Free is an amazing travelogue with writing full of colorful descriptions and exciting escapades. I marveled at the sights, sounds, scents, and the people Jeffrey brought to life as he backpacked through countries I only recall from my high school geography class. I was blown away by how easily Jeffrey pulled me into his world of travel and I totally enjoyed reading his words that translated into a tapestry of color, history, landmarks, terrain, and the beautiful people he met along the way. He shares his experiences without hesitation or question, or whether whatever he was doing was right or not (hint: this book contains many adventures of Jeffrey’s impulsiveness about doing things that are certain to be potentially dangerous!). I am amazed that Jeffrey traveled in foreign countries in the era before phones had a GPS app, and without a concrete plan or a wallet full of money. I look forward to reading Jeffrey Vonk's next book of adventures.
