Sister Bridget's life had its ups and downs. Being brought up in Mexico, she had witnessed crime in its worst form, having been a kidnapping victim. She had never really recovered from the ordeal, and after years of torment, she found solace in joining a religious organization. Alejandro was cruel and odd. In the opinion of Detective Estevez, he did not operate like other criminals. He acted alone, rather than under the umbrella of any particular cartel. He had kidnapped Isabel and her friend Juana and had been extorting money from their parents. How can Isabel escape this cruel criminal and find herself in the care of Sister Bridget in the USA? How will the unlikely friendship between Detective Estevez and Sister Bridget evolve? To find out, get yourself a copy of Bring the Light by Annette Montez Kolda.

Written from the perspective of a sister in a religious order solving crimes, Bring the Light by Annette Montez Kolda is one of the most unusual books I have ever read. The twists and turns in the flawlessly flowing plotline kept me looking forward to the next chapters. The author captured the emotions and events vividly as they unfolded. Reading the book was like having an adventure in Mexico and the southern USA without leaving my couch. The characters are well-developed, and the language used is also easy to understand, making the book accessible to all readers. Those who love stories with religious themes will enjoy this book. I can't wait to read more from this talented author.
