As soon as I saw there was a second Brody Cody book up for review I grabbed it. Brody Cody and the Haunted Vacation House by Toni Pike is another delightful tale. In the first book, poor Brody is faced with accepting a new mother, just when he thought he and his father had been getting on perfectly by themselves. Now Stylus and Pandora are married and there is another shock in store for the youngster; in a few months, he will have to share his life with a new brother and sister. Can life get any worse? A day spend at the Creepy Terror Zone prepares Brody and his friends for ghost watching and when they all go to the Blue Mountains to stay in a vacation mansion, every bump and creep reminds them of a world inhabited by ghosts and spirits.

Brody Cody and the Haunted Vacation House by Toni Pike is a delightful book suitable for children just starting school and one even adults will enjoy. I loved the story, and it was such a delight to read a gentle tale about nice children who are eager and keen to explore the world. Set in Australia in the area around Sydney, there are some lovely descriptions of the landscape and animals in a far off land. The reader can’t help but like Brody and his friends. When Brody discovers that soon he will not be the only child in the family, he dreams of hundreds of crying babies taking all his parents' attention. Later in the story, he comes to realize that it might not be a bad idea after all. An excellent, clean read. Both books in this series would make an excellent present for children, with language sufficiently simple to understand yet with a few words that will stretch linguistic knowledge. Highly recommended.
