It is really hard to write a review of Circle of Spies by Roseanna M. White and not give any of the plot. So if you are a history or Civil War buff, I will just tell you now that this one is a must. With the setting around the Civil War era, the history here is phenomenal and the vivid scenes described by Ms. White are amazing. I love when I can read historical fiction and feel as though I am there in the scenes, and that is just how it was. I could feel the emotions of the people, and smell the scent of the air, and taste the food they ate. The clothes they wore were sometimes awesome and other times not so much. Marietta was truly a heroine after she learned the truth about her husband. And though it was difficult for me to read through some of the scenes, this makes the story more believable and realistic. There are many twists and turns throughout the book that help keep your attention as well. All in all, this is a fantastic read and one that will grab you in the beginning and stay with you for a while after you finish.
