Closing In is a mystery thriller novel by Joe Donato. Jason Matthews loves everything about Chicago. A popular host at WBDP radio station, Jason's life revolves around listening and engaging with the most outrageous of callers and creating an interesting show that boosts the ratings of WBDP. But today is different. After a suspected terrorist viral attack hampers the communication lines, including the internet and media, Jason and his producer, the enigmatic Taryn McKay, find themselves cut off from the rest of the world, being only able to communicate through their radio frequency with people within a 10-mile radius. When reports of a mysterious white cloud swallowing up New York reach the station, callers begin to put ever-increasingly wild theories into Jason's head. Is the rapture truly here? What exactly is going on?

Filled with mystery, suspense, and a sprinkling of horror, Closing In is a gripping ride from start to finish. From the beginning, Joe Donato hooks you in with an intriguing premise and keeps pulling the rug from under your feet at just the right moments when you feel you've figured it all out. Every twist and turn is earned and unexpected. Donato's writing brings a sense of dread and tension to the narrative so that you're always on the edge of your seat. The characters have deeper layers to their personalities that get peeled away with the turn of each page. I found it thoroughly absorbing, and the ending surprised me. This one is a must-read for mystery lovers.

Closing In by Joe Donato is an excellent mystery story. Jason has his talk show, the talent to listen to others genuinely, and is curious about people. Taryn McKay is the producer of the Jason Matthews Midday Show. Taryn tells Jason that they have lost contact with the outside world. There is no communication from New York or the internet, and many sites are down. Callers start dialing in on Jason's show. Some report seeing a white cloud lit up from behind, and they can hear the sound of rumbling. Another caller says something was in the school’s bathroom mirror. Each caller has a different theory of why the world is vanishing. Jason believes it's another snowstorm like in 1967, but what is happening?

Closing In by Joe Donato hooked me from the start until the end. Donato takes you on a rollercoaster ride of humor and suspense. The plot is exciting and complicated, and I never knew what to expect. The tension kept me on the edge of my seat. I could not turn the pages fast enough to find out what would happen. The characters are brilliantly developed. Jason and Taryn are unique and quirky. They enjoy the callers' theories of the events but also realize the seriousness of the matter. The story is excellently written and had my attention throughout. It was not what I expected, and it exceeded my expectations. The ending was a major surprise; I did not see it coming.

All Jason Matthews wanted was a good life, and life seemed to be going according to plan. He lived in Chicago, which he loved, and worked as an on-air personality at WBDP radio station, where he was one of the best as his show had good ratings and brought listeners from all over. He also had a good producer and co-host, Taryn McKay, on whom he seemed to have a crush. What more could a man ask for? All seemed well for Jason until one day, the United States experiences unexplainable communication, media, and internet outages. This gets worse as people call in at the station to give horrific reports of zombies walking the streets, attacks on schools, corpses in morgues crying out at night, and other morbid things. There are many conspiracy theories about the end of the world and the arrival of the Antichrist, but what is the real issue? Is there anything Jason can do to preserve his show and save his country and the world? Find out when you read Closing In by Joe Donato.

Joe Donato takes us through Closing In with a unique narrative style of story-telling. The attention to detail is so good that one gets a full grasp of each character. I love the author’s skillful use of suspense and surprise to sustain the reader’s interest. Joe also makes use of flashbacks, which help us have a better understanding of the present situation and the reason for each character's actions. The language is simple and understandable. It is a book that everybody can connect to, regardless of a person’s genre preference. I love how the author brings out the fun in radio presenting and the different topics and personalities one can find on the radio. I especially love the morals it teaches. The most prominent among them are the themes of passion and betrayal. I have no shadow of a doubt that people will love Closing In. It is an entertaining, educational, reflective, and intriguing book. Read it and thank me later.
