Collide by A. Akinosho is a gripping contemporary romance story. Tate was celebrating his thirty-sixth birthday in a restaurant with his best friend when someone bumped into a woman who fortunately landed in his arms. Tate wants to believe she is not one of those crazy women trying to get his attention to become the next Mrs. DeMoore. He has sworn off marriage, and he's allergic to intimacy. But the beautiful black lady impressed him. Shortly after, he sees a guy kneeling before her, putting a ring on her finger. His friend thinks she's a case closed now, but Tate doesn't want to let her go, even though he doesn't know her name yet. He can't accept that a woman made him feel something and got engaged the same night, so he decides to steal her from her fiancé.

This book gets more riveting and twisty with every page. Collide proves that love between a white man and a black woman is possible and friendship between a man and woman is as well. A. Akinosho has given us an engaging story full of secrets, emotion, sexual tension, twists, and turns. I loved the friendship between Tate and Dane. Two guys rarely have the strength to be vulnerable enough with each other to share their feelings for a woman. I also loved how it switched between narrators at key moments. The chemistry between Tate and Lande is instant and electric. Collide will definitely please fans of steamy interracial and contemporary romances.

Collide is a work of fiction in the contemporary romance, suspense, and interpersonal drama subgenres. It is best suited to the mature adult reading audience and was penned by author A. Akinosho. In this intense drama that focuses on forbidden love and the threat of a broken engagement, we watch our two protagonists, Tate and Lande, spark an instant and powerful connection after a minor incident in a restaurant. But when Tate watches Lande get engaged to another man, he vows to win her for himself. Lande is confident she can resist his charms and stay true to her fiancé, but when she starts working for Tate and seeing him every day, the matter becomes even more complicated.

Author A. Akinosho begins this exciting romance novel under a tense premise with a lot of complicated emotions for Lande. This is a woman who thinks she knows what she wants in life and is trying to be good and loyal but suddenly discovers there might be more to life than she imagined if she was with Tate instead. These conversations are laid out well in the plot with plenty of emotional growth for Lande. Tate is a strong alpha figure that will please romance readers who enjoy a dominant male lead, and I found his parts of the story to be very romantically intense and interesting to explore. Overall, the novel could do with a finer edit to smooth out some parts, but Collide is a very enjoyable tale of forbidden romance that I’d recommend to fans of this kind of relationship dynamic.

Collide is an intriguing romance by A. Akinosho. Tate had never wanted to marry until the day he entered a restaurant and saw a woman named Lande fall. She reached out for help, and Tate didn’t want to let her go. While his best friend Dane tried to gain Tate’s input on some investment properties, the woman accepted a marriage proposal. At a charity event the next evening, Tate learned that Lande worked for an interior design company. To Dane’s surprise, he insisted that Lande be his interior decorator for the new property. An attacker accosted Lande on her way home. When she shared her ordeal, Tate paid for the increased security, which made him a part of her daily life. Likewise, Lande felt attracted to Tate, but she refused to break her engagement.

Lande was a busy woman with friends and family. A. Akinosho introduced as many obstacles as possible for Tate to overcome. Lande frustrated me in several respects. She remained friends with many of her ex-boyfriends, whom Tate saw as competition. She also tended to cross the line of decorum when dancing with other men. The effort that Tate puts into showing Lande his feelings was admirable. The intense, vivid imagery made every scene easy to envision. All the designs Lande developed were realistically portrayed, and I enjoyed watching them become a part of Tate’s home. Their character development included distinctive personality traits. Tate’s inner turmoil was painful after the mixed messages from Lande. The novel was unpredictable, with shocking revelations. Collide is a slow-burn romance featuring characters experiencing genuine relationship situations.
