Born in Washington DC and raised in Virginia, Tamara grew up in the United States of America. Her father, Thomas Smith, who is her namesake (or as close as could be in a female version) was American. Her mother, Betty Smith, is Canadian. Throughout her childhood, Tamara spent many summers with her family visiting British Columbia, Canada and it is now where she permanently resides. She attended Greenbriar Elementary School and St. Stephen’s and St Agnes School.
She holds the Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) designation and works at BCAA as the Payroll Manager. Through a series of events, her subconscious mind had a dream which she remembered when she awoke and it was transformed into her first book, Coming Into Power, A Mikayla Tale, which is book 1 of a three-part series (the other two books are in progress). She has always been a descriptive writer in her English classes and this translates into the book she has written so far.

Coming Into Power is a work in the paranormal adventure, romantic drama, and suspense subgenres and forms the first installment in the Mikayla Tale series. It is best suited to mature adult audiences owing to scenes of violence and sexual content, and Tamara Smith pens it. In this intriguing introduction to an intense and exciting paranormal world, we follow the exploits of our protagonist, Mikayla, as she has her whole world turned upside down by an encounter with a pack of werewolves. Jason is her fated mate, or so the Moon Goddess claims, but can Mikayla adjust from the suburban life she thought she would have?
Tamara Smith offers us a fascinating and emotive romantic drama with a few steamy twists and turns. I enjoyed the character development and presentation. The central dynamic between Mikayla and Jason was deeply considered. It will keep you turning pages as this unlikely pair learn precisely why they might be made for one another. Their dialogue is smooth with lots of charm, and the thought presentation gives you an insight into the struggles Mikayla, in particular, has with adjusting to a new world of different social hierarchies, dynamics, and expectations. I recommend Coming Into Power for paranormal drama and suspense fans everywhere. I can’t wait to see what more this exciting series brings us.
