Dangerous to Know: Jane Austen's Rakes & Gentlemen Rogues is a collected work of tales based on the classic literature of Regency England, penned by eleven different authors and collated by Christina Boyd. This audiobook version of the stories was narrated by Andre Refig. In this follow-up from The Darcy Monologues, The Quill Collective gets together again to deliver a series of truly fascinating and enjoyable tales about the rogues and bad boys who have a very colorful history in the Austen archives. The full list of authors includes Karen M Cox, J. Marie Croft, Amy D'Orazio, Jenetta James, Lona Manning, Christina Morland, Beau North, Katie Oliver, Sophia Rose, Joana Starnes, and Brooke West.

The authors of this excellent collection by The Quill Collective deliver a swoon-worthy series of romantic tales that line up perfectly with the canon of the original Austen works, showing off a wide range of cads, bounders, and some surprises along the way. Some of my particular favorites were The Lost Chapter In The Life of William Elliot by author Jenetta James, where the Persuasion cad’s scheming is really well shown off, and the wild and reckless ride of The Address of A French Woman (Tom Bertram) by author Lona Manning.

Each of the stories is around an hour, which makes them utterly perfect for a lunch break or an evening’s escapism. In terms of audiobook quality, the work is crisply edited and with perfect sound quality. Narrator Andre Refig brings the different male characters to life with a smooth and refined voice, and I really loved the extra character voices such as the servants, which brought the pomp and ceremony of the time period to life. Overall, I would highly recommend Dangerous to Know: Jane Austen's Rakes & Gentlemen Rogues for fans of Austen novels, and indeed all readers who favor Regency romances and rakish characters, some who get a redemption story and some who don’t.

Thrilled you enjoyed one of my favorite anthologies too and especially the narration by British actor Andre Refig. What a talent!
