Deadly Conspiracies by Laurie Gilbert is a medical thriller and the second in the Deadly Medicine series. Reporter Quinlan Rafferty and Sheldon were on their way back from Northern Island when they saw a metallic disc hovering above the trees. Sheldon admitted that a lot of strange things were happening. Quinlan knew that if he reported what he and Sheldon had seen, he would put his career and marriage on the line. Dr. Kristen Singer’s research was almost complete when her lab was destroyed. Kristen's colleagues were killed in the explosion, and six years of work were destroyed. Kristen was offered a job at Omni Health Care System. The offer sounded too good to be true, but Kristen needed a job. Quinlan, now with The Oregon Daily, heard about the explosion and decided to find out more from Kristen about the event.

Deadly Conspiracies was a rollercoaster ride of secrets, conspiracies, and betrayal. Laurie Gilbert had me strapped in for the ride and pulled me along by force. There were so many twists and turns that I never knew what would happen next. I was intrigued, and the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. I was drawn into the medical world, and it was easy to become part of Kristen and Quinlan's lives. The plot was complicated and exciting, with not a single dull moment. The characters were authentic and relatable. My favorite was Kristen. I was invested in the trials and tribulations that Kristen had endured. The growing romance between Quinlan and Kristen was refreshing and welcoming during the darker side of the story. The story was well-researched and written with confidence.
