Death by Poison by Abigail Keam is another tale in the series following Josiah Reynolds, a curious woman who always finds herself involved with some kind of trouble. Josiah is having trouble with her new neighbor, Hildegard “Bitsy’’ Beamer, although it would seem the entire neighborhood is having trouble with her. In between constant drama and mystery surrounding Bitsy, Josiah prepares her horse, Morning Glory, for the parade. Finally, things are looking up when the resident horse whisperer, Velvet Maddox, makes an ominous premonition saying death will be near Glory. Josiah ignores this madness until chaos ensues and a body is found under her horse’s cart. It seems Velvet Maddox wasn’t far off at all.

Death by Poison by Abigail Keam was a fun and entertaining book with an amazing cast of characters. I found myself laughing out loud at Josiah’s antics from the first few pages right until the end of the novel. The mix of comedy and mystery with that hint of drama made for such a wonderful story and I absolutely enjoyed reading this book. I must say that you can tell a character is written well by the way you react to them as a reader and I would definitely say Abigail has a talent for writing amazing characters. I loved Josiah but I could not stand Bitsy and had to remind myself she didn’t actually exist. Overall, this was such a lovely little story that has a bit of everything and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
