"Devil Dogs and Banana Slugs" by Will Selling was quite interesting to read. Selling is a Desert Storm Vet and this is the story of his experiences with both the military and at university and his conflict between the two and finding the balance. It is very well written and should be handed out to young men and women who are thinking of joining the military. The plot is very real and very true.

In "Devil Dogs and Banana Slugs", the author gives a personal account of the differences and ensuing battles between academia and the military. From the university's focus on individual rights and freedom, emphasis on diversity and search for equality, to the military's focus on teamwork and unity, he gives insight to the current gap between the two disciplines. An excellent introduction to both fields, it is a perfect primer for anyone interested in both aspects of our society.
