Author Biography

I'm an award-winning author who likes to blend genres. In the Niphilim Series I blend two of my favorites, thrillers and fantasy into a supernatural thriller.

I've always been fascinated with angels and demons, so this series allows me to explore those themes. I started with the question: What if Lucifer wasn't all wrong? And then I went from there. I hope you enjoy the series.

Devil's Dance by Jeff Altabef is the second book in his Nephilim Thriller series and features the first person account of Steven, a Nephilim, born of a fallen angel father and a human mother. Steven has chosen to side with the angels in a war against demons, a curious decision as he freely admits enjoying his avocation… killing. Still, an angel promised him redemption for even God needed warriors on his side. In a sleepy tourist town, gruesome murders are occurring and Steven has been asked to help solve the mystery. Somehow, they're connected to the war and an amazing new technology engineered to make people smarter… but does it make them smarter or deadly?

Though part of the Nephilim Thriller series, Jeff Altabef's Devil's Dance is a stand-alone novel that combines action and adventure with aesthetic wordsmith skills equal to the literary masters of our time. "I'm lost in the moment—her eyes are an emerald sea—the sparkle, the life, and the pain she'd endured all swim in the water" is but one example of the expressive prose smoothly integrated into the fast-paced action. Altabef mixes a mystery thriller with a character-set right out of biblical lore, without a hint of religiosity, and makes it work to perfection. The protagonists are easily empathetic and familiar; the villains are exceptionally nasty and abhorrent. Readers of science fiction, fantasy, and action, with references to heaven and hell, will surely find Devil's Dance the first step into a growing love affair with the Nephilim Thriller series and the writing of Jeff Altabef.

With a feeling of unknown entities lurking over your shoulder, Jeff Altabef delivers Devil’s Dance: A Nephilim Thriller Book 2 to his readers. With good and evil hanging in the balance, Father Paul sends Steve Cabbott to a small tourist town, Peterstown. The Great Struggle is here; demons and angels warring for our souls. Steve is a unique weapon in the hands of the angels; he can see the fire in a demon’s eyes, he can smell the sulfur that permeates their presence, and he isn’t afraid to kill them. He paired up with Riann to investigate the murders and disappearances of people connected to Peterson Tech. Conrad Peters is about to step aside for his son, Alister, to take over their enterprise. He struggles with releasing his hold as he feels the powers surging below the surface. The new chip could be the answer to recruiting pawns for the demons. Steve and Riann have their work cut out for them, if only he could convince her demons and angels were real.

Devil’s Dance will delight the reader as Jeff Altabef pulls back the veil to which the average person is blind. This is a thriller that will excite the reader as Steve and Riann come to terms with the surrounding battle. The pace is quick as the evil gets more aggressive and careless. People are sacrificed to keep the rising hidden. The characters are well developed, while some will endear themselves to you. I found this novel enticing, stimulating, and spectacular. The author’s ability to trigger visual images is impressive, though some of those images are scary. I ended this novel excited to find Jeff Altabef has more books in this genre for those who love thrillers.

Devil's Dance by Jeff Altabef is the second book in the Nephilim Thriller series. Steven Cabbott is a Nephilim. His father is a fallen angel, his mother a human. He doesn’t yet understand how special this makes him but Steven is something else – he is a killer who enjoys killing. The angels and the demons are going to war and it's time to choose a side. Strangely, Steven chooses the side of the angels. He’s been told that redemption is not out of reach and the angels need all the warriors they can get. Steven is asked to help solve a series of murders in a small town. These murders are not, as they seem, random; they are connected to the war. Joining forces with a bartender and an anti-tech hoodie, Steven tries to prepare them for what is coming. If he can't solve the murders, everyone stands to lose their souls. With a brand-new technology that can make people much smarter, will Steven be in time?

Devil's Dance: A Nephilim Thriller Book 2 by Jeff Altabef is a gripping thriller with a paranormal plot. I wish I had read the first book before embarking on this one but, nevertheless, I enjoyed the story. It's an action-packed plot told in the first person narrative which makes it feel somehow more personal. There are plenty of twists and turns along the way and the book grabs you from the first page. It’s written to draw a reader in and bind them to the story, living it and feeling it until the very end. The characters are excellent, really well developed, and I don’t feel that I missed out on any development by not reading book 1. However, it's probably best to read them as a series to get the full picture. Great book, recommended for fans of thrillers who want that little bit more to a story.
