“You don’t have to be crazy to camp with us, we’ll train you.” Diary of an RVer During Quarantine is a witty non-fiction book by Larry MacDonald. He and his wife Sandy live in a recreational vehicle with their dog, Bella. The couple’s plans for socializing and recreational activities were cancelled because of covid quarantine restrictions. Larry decided to keep a diary of his experiences and wondered how long it would take for Sandy and Bella to tolerate his company for two weeks. Unlike Sandy who had interesting hobbies to keep her occupied, Larry found himself repairing things around the RV that should’ve been fixed years ago. To celebrate his accomplishments, he often drank his concocted “Quarantinis.”

“Camping is where you spend a small fortune to live like the homeless.” Larry MacDonald is direct and cleverly witty in his detailed writing of what life can be like living in a recreational vehicle, especially during quarantine. He also offers amusing advice on things that RVers shouldn’t do, and the importance of proper planning if you intend to tour places in a motor home. Reading RV magazines will be helpful too. It wasn’t always easy for the couple to remain confined during quarantine, but Larry MacDonald has a good sense of humour and having daily doses of Quarantinis kept him upbeat. His description of life in a recreational vehicle with its highs and lows comes from his own experiences and of others who had mishaps that I found amusing. Diary of an RVer During Quarantine is a short book that you will find entertaining and informative.
