Author Biography

Aside from writing romance, Elise Faber’s passions are chocolate, Star Wars, and hockey (the order depending on the day and how well her team — the Sharks! — are playing). She and her husband also play as much hockey as they can squeeze into their schedules, so much so that their typical date night is spent on the ice. Elise is the mom to two exuberant boys and is thoroughly addicted to Dancing With the Stars.

Disaster at Roosevelt Ranch is a romance novel written by Elise Faber. Kelly Hamilton feels like her life is in a sudden tail spin. She hadn’t planned on falling pregnant to Rex Roosevelt, but she knew that telling him about the baby was the right thing to do. When Kelly arrives at the ranch to do just that, she learns that Rex has left for an extended vacation just as his twin brother, Justin, shows up to take care of the ranch. Although identical twins, Rex is a flake who never follows through on business proposals, while Justin had just returned home from the war. An air force pilot and surgeon, his demeanor and mannerisms are nothing like his brother’s. As Kelly leaves the ranch, she tells Justin that she’d just found out she is pregnant. This makes Justin determined to become a part of Kelly’s life, but they keep each other at arm’s length; Kelly is carrying Rex’s baby and his twin brother courting her is utterly unthinkable, regardless of the circumstances. It isn’t until the night of a severe thunderstorm, when Kelly is kicked by a horse, that she truly needs Justin’s help. During her recovery, they start getting to know one another, growing closer until the most sickening proposal is made by the twins’ father, Vincent, sending Kelly’s life spiraling out of control and making her determined never to set foot on Roosevelt Ranch again.

Emotions run deep in this complex tale of true love versus material wealth. Elise Faber’s exquisite combination of romance, drama, tragedy and conflict kept my interest piqued from start to finish. All of the characters in the book were given an immense depth, enabling the reader to properly connect on an emotional level. Kelly is a woman who'd had a horrific childhood and was raised by her sister while both girls were minors. She'd been unaware that most of the town’s folk had chipped in to help the sisters, enabling them to have a chance at a decent life. My concern throughout the book was the survival and welfare of Kelly’s baby, after one twin had deserted her and the other was unable to get emotionally involved with his brother’s baby-mama. Although there are many story lines working their way through the pages simultaneously, they all blended perfectly, bringing the suspense throughout the novel to a spectacular conclusion. I thoroughly enjoyed Disaster at Roosevelt Ranch and plan to add it to my home library when it becomes available in print. I recommend this book to all those who like a little extra spice in their otherwise ordinary romance, where drama, action and sizzle are sprinkled throughout in just the right doses.
