Does it rain food? This is the question a young boy asks himself for quite a while as he thinks about his newest sibling that is about to be born. His mom tells him the baby eats what she eats, and if that’s the case, then how does food fall for the baby in his mommy’s tummy? The boy thinks about various scenarios with his sibling inside his mom’s tummy, wondering what happens when she drinks milk or juice, eats hot food, and more. He decides to ask the baby when it is born, hoping to eventually get answers on this topic about which he is so curious. Does It Rain Food? by Jonathan Marshall is a lighthearted read with sweet illustrations that are sure to make children of various ages smile and giggle.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading through and looking at this book! The concept was so creative and something I had certainly never thought about before, even as a child, I’m sure. The illustrations captured the main character’s thoughts exactly, and I loved watching his thoughts play out on the different pages. The various scenarios in which the baby is eating different foods were detailed and vibrant, and they were cute to look at. Overall, I thought this was a fun book that could be read multiple times and still be just as, if not more, enjoyable each time. I would recommend Does It Rain Food? by Jonathan Marshall to all young children! It’s a unique book with an adorable main character.
