East of the Sun: An Epic Fairytale Adventure by A.E. Becker follows the tale of Saedis and Sola, two sisters caught up in a magical world along with Ash, a boy who loved to tell stories. These three teenagers never expected to get involved in a world they’d only heard about in myths and legends but they soon realized that it was all too real. They must try to make it out of this twisted situation alive while making friends and meeting foes along the way.

All I can say about East of the Sun by A.E. Becker is that it was riveting. From the start, Becker had me in a stranglehold with this book and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. The complex family dynamic between Saedis and Sola plays a major role in their motivation throughout the plot. My heart went out to Saedis from the beginning, considering the way she was treated by her family. What I loved even more was seeing how her character developed. The interwoven fairy-tale aspect was also really enjoyable especially because many of the stories and myths used included some I had never heard before. Becker managed to create such an intriguing and refreshing world filled with wonder and excitement that, as a reader, I couldn’t help but want more by the end of it. This is a wonderfully written book and I hope many readers will enjoy it as much as I did.
