Eight Nights of Flirting by Hannah Reynolds sees Shira Barbanel run into old crush Tyler Nelson at the airport. They are forced to share a taxi and when Tyler finds the power is off at his house, Shira is forced to allow him to stay the night at her home. They chat to pass the time, and Shira confides that she does not know how to flirt. Tyler commits to teaching her flirtation strategies as compensation for an introduction to her uncle, with whom he hopes to gain an internship. As Shira and Tyler talk, Tyler reveals a side of himself he has kept hidden in his search for popularity. Shira applies her new conversational skills to her growing acquaintance with her new crush Isaac Danziger. Will Isaac prove to be the young man of her dreams?

Eight Nights of Flirting by Hannah Reynolds is a young adult romance that combined all the holiday cheer of Christmas and Hanukkah. I enjoyed the cultural exchange as Shira shared her very private candle ceremony with Tyler, and was then introduced to a Christmas bake-up. I enjoyed the sense of harmony that pervaded both celebrations. Shira commenced the story a little repressed, and it was satisfying to see her character develop and come out of her shell. The family mystery woven throughout the narrative was highly intriguing, with the outcome surprising me. I loved the byplay with the older generation as Shira’s grandparents were maneuvered into resolving their longstanding issues. This book presented an entertaining and heart-warming coming-of-age story.
