Elizabeth Tudor: Ancestry of Sorcery traces a captivating story of the young Elizabeth I as she grows up. Motherless, Elizabeth is left alone to struggle through the awkward romances of young love and darker events. But her mother, Anne Boleyn, does not leave her empty-handed. Soon before her death, she leaves little Elizabeth with radiant power. It is up to Elizabeth to figure it all out, alone, all the while carefully threading through the political landscape of the English court. Who can she trust with the secret of her powers? Especially when those around her seem to get beheaded. Can she resolve the mystery of the power herself? If you love historical period pieces or historical fiction, you will adore Theresa Pocock’s novel.

I loved how Theresa Pocock has taken what little information history books have given us about Elizabeth Tudor’s early life and expanded it to create this imaginative story. I was glad to find that whether or not I had previous knowledge about the British royal family, I could still enjoy the story because there was enough of Pocock’s originality and creativity to keep me invested right to the last word. Pocock follows historical facts to create a credible storyline that pulls the reader in and then makes it interesting by adding thoughtful introspection, magic, and emotion. Elizabeth Tudor is a refreshing story because it showcases a young royal. I loved seeing the story through the eyes of young Elizabeth. It was innocent and her struggles were different.
