It happens to all of us. Everything seems to be going great for us, then we get news that knocks life right out from under us. That was what happened to this author, and this is why she decided to write this book. Tracy thought her job was secure, but to her shock and surprise, she was let go from her job, or 'fired' would be a better way of putting it. In this book, Tracy talks about the way it happened the day she lost her job, her life being unemployed, and emotions she had to deal with because of her job loss. And she says how she used that time of unemployment to build a stronger relationship with the Lord.

Tracy Deitz opens her heart in her debut book, “Employed By God,” taking readers on her journey from the time she was fired through trusting God with her life and trusting Him for His will in her life. This wasn’t an easy journey, and I appreciate Tracy digging deep into her soul, being honest about her feelings of disappointment, discouragement, being angry with God, and even trying some things that are not of God to find fulfillment. But through it all, she makes the right choices and uses her time and talents to draw closer to the Lord.
Tracy’s story is easy to read and relate to because she is speaking from her heart. She is teaching the reader what worked for her in her time of distress. She shows that when we give our life to God and strive to grow closer to Him, He will give us a peace and comfort that only He can give.

This would be a wonderful Bible study and Tracy helps by including study questions and scriptures at the end of each chapter. I highly recommend this book to anyone going through a loss of any kind.

Author Tracy Deitz has won the 2012 Next Generation Indie Book Awards for "Employed by God: Benefits Packaged With Faith" and it is easy to see just why. "Employed By God" is an exceptional and highly well-written book of only 147 pages that takes the reader through the author's time of unemployment in chapters that are based on the famous twenty-third Psalm. Deitz tells of leaving her job as a high school teacher to take a job as a civilian employee for the military, only to be fired unexpectedly. She shares how she and her husband had just bought another home and were faced with bills that needed to be paid. However, Tracy Deitz's husband and her friends, including prayer group members, stood by her and encouraged her to trust God and understand that things happen for a reason as God is always watching over us, holding us in His arms whether we are aware of it or not. Tracy Deitz recalls her life, of being sent to Mongolia on a medical mission, of teaching young men in a maximum security prison where she learns satisfaction and the value of humility, and of her second marriage to Dan who loves and supports her unconditionally.

"Employed By God" takes the reader through Tracy Deitz's months of unemployment and her ensuing introspection that brought spiritual growth. Each chapter employs one of the verses of Psalms 23. Most of the twelve chapters of this inspirational book offer a scriptural verse and study questions at the end of each chapter for the reader or a religious study group to use. Deitz is honest and open about her months of unemployment. Readers everywhere will love this honesty and will value the author's step-by-step growth to accepting what God had in mind for her: writing a book that will influence so many in these terrible economic times where thousands of people are without work.
