Endangered Species by D.M. Rasey is a nail-biting short story thriller concerning the loss of humanity and the demise of the human race. Dr. Jessup Hinkle and Dr. Franz Oleum were geneticists working on sequencing the human genome for cancer research. Dr. Hinkle stumbled on a serious defect in the DNA sequencing. He found that the human race is programmed for self-destruction. Tirelessly researching, both doctors were working against the clock on a ticking time bomb to find a cure. Finally abandoning years of fruitless efforts, they parted ways. They made a pact to keep the apocalyptic data to themselves.

While waiting for the ax to fall, Franz lived a satisfactory life with his wife in a small town in New York. One day it happened; two people that he knew fairly well became victims of their own DNA. Violence is escalating around him and Franz decides that he and Jessup need to take another look into the defective DNA. Together again, they begin working with a team of lab assistants and the United Nations. Will they be able to stop the epidemic before it is too late?

D.M. Rasey gives a frightening perspective on the growing trend of violent crimes in the short story thriller, Endangered Species. This is a mind-blowing, fast-paced story that had me holding my breath the whole time I was reading it. I had to keep reminding myself to stop and breathe. I could not put it down until I had reached its enigmatic conclusion. This is an amazing story! It kept me on the edge of my seat. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to read it. This is a great story, and I recommend it to those who love suspenseful tales with a scientific theme.

This was a pretty good book. Even my wife liked it.

I loved this book...It freaked out my mom though. She works at a hospital and said her E.R patients doubled over the last year. Normal people just snapped she said for no reason.

Kim Shields

Ending was CRAZY...
