Escape to Pelican Lake is a collection of poems, lyrics, and short stories by Will Reuhl. This book is inspired by the author's fun summers at Big Pelican Lake with his family and explores life's randomness. He talks about spending time with his loved ones, his parents' legacy, and his dreams. Most of the pieces are about love, romance, and relationships. The others are stories from unique perspectives with characters from various places and eras. The book includes uplifting Christian poems that will strengthen your faith. The author also has poems and stories about clichés, nature, appreciating the troops, and enjoying life.
I loved reading Escape to Pelican Lake because it is unique and memorable. The book also contains quotes by famous people and pictures that perfectly complement the author's work. Will Reuhl gives life-changing lessons and narrates special moments from his childhood. His wise words are profound and helped me reflect on what truly matters: spending time with loved ones and being kind to others. He paints a vivid image of his family and the Pelican Lake region. I love that he wants to continue the family tradition of spending summers at the lake. The short stories were interesting, especially the ones written from a dog's perspective. I found them unique and eye-opening. Finally, the book's design was the icing on the cake. The little details, like the music theme and consistent black-and-white photos, gave the book an artistic vibe and made it visually appealing. This is great work.
