Eternal Bloodlines by JC Brennan tells the story of Amanda Rain Holston, who, as the book begins, is a young waitress in the Michigan town of Skidway Lake. Amanda is living a typical small-town life when suddenly, after a party, the body of one of her friends is found ripped apart and disemboweled, and the body of two more friends are found drained of blood. Soon, Amanda herself is injured in a motor vehicle accident. While in the hospital, she has vivid dreams of two dark, hooded strangers who are arguing about a “hunt.” Soon, she wakes up — but she’s now in a castle in Romania, the companion of a vampire. And he’s not any vampire — he’s the son of Count Dracula!

JC Brennan’s Eternal Bloodlines is very well written in a way that can appeal to people of the fictional Amanda’s age as well as older adults. In an unusual twist, Dracula, or Vlad Tepes as he’s known in the book, is portrayed as a compassionate, caring “person” who regrets the grisly deeds of his youth. Good mysteries (and this is a mystery as well as a book of paranormal fiction) have many premonitions, and Eternal Bloodlines is no exception — before Amanda’s accident, she’s a fan of Stephen King’s fiction and reads as many vampire books as she can. There were even one or two scenes that made me laugh, such as the “wedding chapel” later in the book whose centerpiece is not a piece of religious art but a painting of a vampire biting a young woman’s neck. All in all, if you like vampires (fictional, that is), paranormal fiction or mysteries, Eternal Bloodlines will be a good book for you.

In a great new work of paranormal fiction by author JC Brennan, Eternal Bloodlines, readers will find themselves obsessively turning the pages from the very first words all the way through until the very last! Follow the story of Amanda Holston, a woman who feels trapped in her small home town of Skidway Lake, Michigan. She still lives in the house she grew up in, even though her parents have passed away, and she dreams of something more for her life. But when she finds a dead body in the woods near her home, the words her mother used to tell her, "Be careful what you wish for," certainly ring true. And when the town's sheriff, Sheriff Hugely, discovers more bodies, all that everyone in the town thought they knew about sleepy little Skidway Lake comes into question. Will Amanda find the exciting life she's looking for, or will she find herself the next victim? You'll need to read the book to find out!

I very much enjoyed Eternal Bloodlines. Author JC Brennan has done a great job in creating an exciting and creepy story line that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. Her ability to create characters that her readers will be able to relate to, will care about, and will continue to think of long after the last page has been read is second to none and her ability to write convincingly in the paranormal environment is simply stellar. I can't say enough great things about this book, and it is my pleasure to highly recommend it to any reader who enjoys paranormal fiction or who is looking for a great book in general. I certainly hope that author JC Brennan is hard at work on her next book in this genre. I, for one, will be looking for it!

Eternal Bloodlines by JC Brennan is an interesting entry in the supernatural genre that features eternal creatures — werewolves and vampires — a book that will powerfully strike the fans of L.J. Smith. Amanda Rain Holston is an ordinary girl in a typical Michigan town, an orphan who just wants a life, something exciting like falling in love. Before her death, her mother had advised her to be careful about the things she desired, and that advice is about to be become manifest in unfathomable ways. Amanda’s life is about to change when she finds a body in the woods near her home. The Sheriff finds more bodies, and while the investigations are ongoing and the town is in complete panic, Amanda loses her friend in a car accident. When a dark stranger starts appearing as an apparition, Amanda knows she is set for a deadly ride. Is she ready? What awaits her beyond the darkness?

JC Brennan’s Eternal Bloodlines is well-crafted, with memorable characters and an absorbing, irresistible darkness that draws the reader irrevocably to itself. Amanda is a compelling character, created with the hopes and fears any woman her age would have, and it is interesting to see how she develops throughout the story. I loved the writing, which I found to be evocative, conjuring up powerful images that will haunt readers long after they have finished the book. For those looking for an entertaining read in this genre, Eternal Bloodlines will be well-received, a success on numerous counts including characterization, gripping plot lines, and high scale conflict. This is the kind of book that will wake you up in the middle of the night and make you think about darkness in broad daylight.
