Falling in Line is a second-chance romance by Kasey Stockton. Five years ago, June Baker left everything behind including her fiance, Tucker Fletcher, to pursue a life and career in California. She returns to help her father after he has knee surgery and worries about the townspeople's reactions to her past decisions. June is from a small town in Arcadia Creek, Texas, and she knows the community is divided about whether they should welcome her or snub her for leaving. Tucker is surprised by June's return and angered by his persistent feelings. He hasn't been able to move on from their relationship, but he wonders if it's because he needs closure or if his feelings are so strong that time and distance can't change them.

Kasey Stockton has an unbelievable writing style that will make you feel like you are enjoying the Fletcher barbecue or perusing the titles at Baker's Books. The romance steadily evolves, and the community is a reliable group of church-goers who invest their whole hearts in their friends and relatives. The characters and their relationships are layered, making it a complete reading experience. Stockton delicately touches on depression and vividly describes a range of emotions, shifting between June's and Tucker's perspectives. This is the second book in the author's Arcadia Creek Romance Series, but I didn't feel like I'd missed something critical from the first book to piece together the plot in this novel. Readers who enjoy small-town romances with wholesome characters will love Falling in Line.
