In Fallon: Memoirs of the Reborn by Laura Waide, souls never die; they are just waiting until a new body is ready for them. Fallon James is trying to rebuild her life after the tragic death of her husband, Jackson. She takes a job at a casino to support herself and her daughter Kayla, and it is there that a dark stranger called Deston enters her life, claiming to be an ‘auditor’ for the company. But Deston has a hidden agenda that is linked to the Order, a secret organization that has developed the capability to reincarnate a chosen few. Fallon discovers she has been drawn into their cloaked world, which was not only responsible for her husband’s death, but threatens her daughter’s life. Can she help Deston destroy the Order and their mission called Project Rebirth? Or will her life be happier if they fail?

This gripping story of reincarnation and coping with the loss of a loved one had my attention hooked from the prologue. The characters were very likeable and their actions believable. I especially loved the strong and feisty character of Kayla, and Charles Smith made for a callous and calculating villain. The relationship between Fallon and Deston was heartwarming. There was a never ending supply of action, tension and suspense throughout, which made this book one of the most nail-biting story lines I have read for a long time. The conflicts kept the plot moving at a very fast pace, and the ending of part one was explosive. All the loose ends were tied up in the second part of the story and it was the perfect ending to a perfect, unique story.
