The Maranzanos, Espositos, Toscanis, Civellas, and Carusos are five powerful families that rule Chicago. Each family has a signature ducerat, ranging from shock to ice, shadow, fire, and havoc. Then there is the void ducerat, more dangerous than anything, and the genesis of an unimaginable catastrophe. Enter innocent bystanders like Luca Holland and Cece Cabrera, who lost their loved ones to the search and channeling of the void ducerat. Now everyone has vested interests, whether for vengeance or gaining absolute power. Five powerful families turn against each other with newbies on opposing teams. War looms on a grand scale, and loyalties will shift. Time will unveil secrets and shocking discoveries that link even the innocents. The world will reel from the impact of this war launched in the Family of Fire by Jonah Evarts.

Family of Fire by Jonah Evarts is a breathtaking and captivating yet thought-provoking novel. The plot was brilliant, and the storyline was refreshing with twists, turns, suspense, and unpredictability. Jonah worked around themes like revenge, crime, power, manipulation, deceit, betrayal, desperation, loyalty, and sacrifice. I loved the effortless blend of reality, fantasy, beautiful character development, and a story with depth. Power corrupts, and the quest for dominance is deadly when greed steps in. Family of Fire also had me asking if there was a justification for crime. Is it possible to be a good person even while living a life of crime? I wish Louis and Luca would give me answers. My favorite characters were Raymond, Luca, Louis, Alexia, Daniel, and Stella. They understood loyalty. My take-home from this book is that no one is a waste, no matter how weak they see themselves. There is greatness in everyone. Thank you for a beautiful book, Jonah.
