Four generations of wealth have been frittered away on selfish ambitions and debauchery, causing unexpected and radical consequences that alter the lives and dynamics of a New Hampshire hamlet in the intriguing novel Fensetter Falls by Jack Young. Before Harlan and Emmett Fensetter have the chance to sit down to their Thanksgiving dinner, they are summoned to a family meeting. The family attorney and their parents relay the unpleasant news that their fortune has dwindled to a fraction of its former glory. Both sons are distraught when they learn that they each only have nine hundred thousand dollars. Emmett, the younger brother, is an ascetic religious scholar and author. He spends his money on promoting and publishing his stringent beliefs. In comparison, Harlan is the exact opposite; like his father before him, he is a lecherous drunk. Feeling they have little choice, Harlan and Emmett each determine to take his brother's share. But how? Is murder an option?

Filled with immoral and criminal elements, dark humor colors the fascinating novel Fensetter Falls by Jack Young. The combination of enigmatic characters and a picturesque New England setting creates an outstanding and intriguing story. The intricate plot has just enough mystery and crisis to hold the reader captivated until the astounding conclusion. The bizarre and outrageous behavior of the characters looping throughout the story create an outlandish, entertaining, and somewhat realistically skewed view of life in a small town. Anyone who relishes stories that reveal the anomalous side of humanity will enjoy reading this novel. Containing sexual innuendos and explicit language, the book is more suitable for a mature reader.
