Finding Zane by Eliza Tilton is the second book in the Dreamscapes series, but it serves as a standalone novel. Meredith works at her family's toy shop, and she's taken on even more responsibilities now that her dad is sick and her uncle is away on business trips. They sometimes get free samples from toy makers, so when a new model of android shows up with no further information, Meredith isn't surprised. What's more curious is that the android is insanely realistic and might just be the answer to Meredith's problems. Perhaps Meredith can train him to act human enough to help her around the store. While he's at it, maybe he can pretend to be her new boyfriend in an attempt to make her ex jealous. Unfortunately, the longer she is around Zane, the easier it is to forget that he isn't real. Or is he?

Eliza Tilton has put together a beautifully written young adult romance that has a very anime/manga feel to it. I would personally love to see Finding Zane illustrated in manga form, but even without pictures, it is easy to imagine how it would appear in such a medium. From start to finish, the author tells a fast-paced story with characters that come to life (both literally and figuratively) right on the page. Even though there is an implied futuristic setting, there is still some sort of magical, timeless feeling about the background and timeline that makes it easy to become immersed. I look forward to reading more from this author and this series.
