James St. Clair cannot believe his eyes when he discovers two bodies in a vehicle unearthed by the harsh weather of the Libyan desert. His discovery would turn out to be the key to solving a twenty-something-year-old mystery. It was also the beginning of a battle for domination between the world’s intelligence agencies and one of the most notorious secret Nazi organizations to survive the Second World War. James is recruited by a British Intelligence agency to assist, but he must be wary as the Nazis may have been defeated but ODESSA is alive and well. They know that getting to the bodies in the desert before the Allies may well be the difference between survival and extinction for them in David Lakeman’s Flight of the Swastika.

Flight of the Swastika is David Lakeman’s latest offering and his storyline is a combination of action and adventure set years after the end of the war. He uses the hysteria that consumed the world while chasing down members of the Nazi party who slipped through the hands of the Allies to create a story high on suspense, romance, and intrigue. His characters are evenly balanced with origin stories that are easy to follow. Lakeman’s impressively detailed crafting of the less obvious aspects of his principal character's motivation shows just how much research went into making this work of fiction as historically accurate as possible. The best part of this novel has to be the way the story jumps between the past and the present, leaving subtle clues that completely immerse the reader in a gripping adventure. The book was a delight to read.

Timothy Warren

I agree with the reviewer. It is a real page turner and a delight to read.
