Forgive or Forget Me is a work in the contemporary romance, interpersonal drama, and emotional writing subgenres. It is best suited to the general adult reading audience owing to themes of death, cancer, suicide, and mental health struggles, to name a few. Penned by Ann Einerson, this intense, emotive, and often heart-wrenching drama sees the unlikely reunion of childhood sweethearts Milo and Olivia. When Milo’s teenage world was ripped apart by family tragedy, Olivia was the only one who could bring him back to life, but they’d been estranged for fifteen years since Milo suddenly left. Can they reconcile and rekindle, or is there too much water under the bridge to find love again now?
Ann Einerson has crafted a superb work of contemporary fiction that blends an intense emotional storyline of grief, loss, and reconciling one’s emotions with a tender love story in which both the central characters long for hope. I loved the dual perspective style of storytelling, which was used so much more inventively than many other contemporary romances. It not only gave us core moments inside the heads of the characters as their major drama spilled over but also allowed us to see choice moments of how the other person in the partnership tries to support and make space for whoever needs it at the time. Having had a similar grief experience to Milo recently, the journey of reconciliation between family members felt perfectly pitched and emotionally honest. Overall, Forgive or Forget Me is a fantastic read for fans of serious romance who want to discover a brilliant new author.
