Jeffrey Dahmer, the Man Who Killed Adam Walsh by Willis Morgan is a true crime book that revolves around Adam Walsh's abduction from Hollywood Mall and murder in 1981 at the age of six, which led to a nearly three-decade-long investigation. Morgan asserts he was an eyewitness present during Adam's abduction, and was unsettled when the Hollywood Police Department convicted Ottis Toole instead of Jeffrey Dahmer. Even with statements about Dahmer's presence at the mall that day, including eyewitness accounts, the police disregarded them. Morgan, frustrated by the loss of evidence, leads, and eyewitness testimony, is adamant that Dahmer killed Adam. He speaks about flaws in the investigation, recounting his own encounter with Dahmer, and detailing other eyewitnesses' testimonies. Despite this compelling evidence, true justice for Adam Walsh remains elusive.

Before reading this book, I was oblivious to the details of the case, but Morgan's expertise and exhaustive research left me feeling fully informed. The sheer volume of evidence compiled by Morgan is staggering, yet it's perplexing why this case hasn't received more attention. While the writing prioritizes substance over style, Morgan effectively delivers a wealth of information, even if lacking the polish of other true crime narratives. Beyond just the case itself, the book serves as a critical examination of homicide investigations, highlighting systemic failures. Morgan states that states, "The HPD is the one place you never want to get your information from,” and his assertion about the unreliability of the HPD is supported by his findings, making this book a chilling reminder of the flaws in our justice system. Very highly recommended.
