Girl by Robin Williams is a series of poems about life and love. The words are delicately chosen and the prose is refreshing. In Type of Girl, the poet talks about all the aspects and characteristics of a girl; elegantly done with careful word choice that reflects all the aspects perfectly. In Type of Boy, the poet talks about the characteristics of a boy, These words chosen are rougher as they convey the image. There is a mention of dirty fingernails and you can see them. In Open Call: Looking for a Girlfriend, we see almost an advertisement-style post equipped with dash signs instead of spaces. Here the poet describes what they would like in a girlfriend and what she would get in return. Quirky and fun this poem plays with words to create a picture. In Bisexual, the poet talks about the feeling of being trapped. The word choice brings about this very image. I personally loved this poem because I am bisexual and could relate to the trapped feeling of not being free to love who you want to love.

In They Tried To Erase Me you can feel the sense of being conflicted. You don't feel free to be yourself. A very poignant poem. The phrase "Just a demon luring in my veins" stood out to me. In A Poem in Which I'm Back Under The Church Pews Twenty-One Years Later, the poet talks about a dream, and the word choice reflects that image perfectly. As a poetry lover, I found this short book a breath of fresh air. I was blown away by certain word choices that brought about imagery. This author paints with words. Poetry lovers will enjoy it. Girl by Robin Williams is a beautiful and short set of poems mostly about love, life, and self-expression. Even the humor in this book is well done and clever. This is most definitely one for poetry lovers and I highly recommend this book. You will not regret reading it.
