When Elizabeth lost both her parents at an early age, she was taken care of by Horace Reid and his sister Helen. To the outside world, Elizabeth was cared for and kept safe by the siblings and when she married Horace at the age of 18, it seemed like a perfect match. Fast forward to Horace’s funeral and Elizabeth is now a widow who has a history of mental illness and is considered unstable. Hearing her sister-in-law planning to hospitalize her following the funeral, Elizabeth decides to escape and forge her own future. Girl From The Treehouse is the story of Elizabeth who has multiple personalities disorder and author Gudrun Frerichs tells it with aplomb. Ama, Sky, Amadeus, and Lilly are among many personas that live within the body the world knows as Elizabeth. Each one of them has a purpose and a distinct skillset and they work together to make the world a safer place for Elise, who is the host that has replaced Elizabeth following a trauma at a very early age.

Girl From The Tree House is a fascinating psychological thriller that explores the world of multiple personalities and helps the reader understand why Dissociative Identity Disorder is a coping mechanism that can follow multiple traumas. My only former experience with the concept has been through film and TV and has led to a misconception over the nature of the concept. Gudrun Frerichs has a depth of knowledge that helps to educate and inform the interested reader through the power of fiction. Girl From The Treehouse is a gripping story of the lengths certain groups will go to in order to silence their victims. It is also a touching story about a woman who has been treated appallingly learning to trust again and coming to realize that there is some good in the world. A must-read for fans of psychological thrillers and thought-provoking, dramatic novels.
