Goat Girl by Norma J Grochowski is a beautiful story that follows the life of Emma Cooper after the death of her parents. Raised by her older brothers, Emma feels close to them and enjoys the bond of fraternity, and little does she think about moving away. She works with them at the family garage and is fascinated by cars. Becoming a witness to a shooting, Emma saves a man's life. But now someone wants to take hers. Can she escape the killer?

Written in beautiful prose and in an exciting narrative voice, Goat Girl is a powerful story with strong themes of family, parenting, brotherhood, and the dignity of work. Emma is a strong female protagonist and the author does an incredible job in portraying her developmental arc. It is interesting to follow her as she goes through psychological turmoil, caught between pursuing an independent life and staying with brothers who have always protected her. Her connection with cars is one of the elements that enrich the narrative.

Norma J Grochowski writes in language that is crisp and simple, allowing the inner workings of the hearts of the characters to come out poignantly. It is well-paced and the atmospheric writing makes the reading experience even sweeter. Here is a book for readers who enjoy strong characters and a plot that is steeped in realism. The characters are emotionally rich, each developed with strong doses of humanity and each playing a strong and well-defined role in the plot. This is a unique and engaging story.
