Author Biography

I am thirty-eight years old, work in the construction industry and a volunteer firefighter. I live with my wife and three children in Belleville, Ontario, Canada.

Unhappy with my health and lifestyle ending 2020, I decided to make changes going into 2021. I started with a break from drinking alcohol. As easy as this concept may seem, I quickly learned just how much my habits and routines around drinking were difficult to change. In Going Dry: My Path to Overcoming Habitual Drinking, I cover the year that was (and still is) my path to sobriety. With social pressures and expectations to drink and how difficult it was for my family and friends to accept and understand at certain times, there is a common theme to the struggle we face being different or making changes in our lives.

The year 2021 was marked by the Coronavirus pandemic, but for Sean Robinson, the author of Going Dry: My Path to Overcoming Habitual Drinking, it was also the year in which he made an important decision. At the very beginning of 2021, he decided to take a break from drinking alcohol, a resolution that he kept until the end of the year. It was not easy to achieve this goal because of his family background, which encouraged him to drink rather than avoid alcohol, and external influences, such as the imminent wedding of a friend. But the author has succeeded in his intent, and now his experience can help readers to make the right decisions and find their way.

Going Dry: My Path to Overcoming Habitual Drinking is an interesting and inspiring book to read. This is not just a memoir where Robinson talks about his personal experience; it is much more. I believe this book is a guide for anyone with a similar problem and is particularly valuable for those who do not know how to resist pressure. Robinson's story struck me in the attitude those around him had toward his decision to stop drinking (especially concerning the episode of his friend's wedding). I believe that if he succeeded in achieving his goal, so can anyone else. I recommend this book to any reader who is looking for advice on taking a break from alcohol and who does not know how to do it. Here you will find a great example and some useful tips to help you.
