Good Puppy, Naughty Puppy, Sad Puppy, Happy Puppy by Florence D. Blanding tells the story of a boy named Tommy. The story starts on his birthday when he gets a surprise gift. A puppy! They end up naming the puppy Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart after the music composer, or Wolfie for short. They quickly become the best of friends, but one day the puppy runs off and gets lost. Oh, no! Tommy and his mom decided to make flyers and ask around town if anyone has seen Wolfie. Will Tommy and his mom be able to find Wolfie? They search and search all over town. Then something surprising happens. This fun story is easy to follow and is sure to please.

I found this to be a delightful story. I enjoyed meeting Tommy and Wolfie and reading their tale. I also enjoyed the artistic style used in much of this book. I liked the illustrations more as the story continued, just because the opening pages were somewhat minimalistic compared to the later images. That is an entirely personal opinion as I realized that I prefer the subtle background details that we didn't get much of earlier in the story. The fun character art is great for a children's book, and even the opening pages were well-drawn and fit well with the scenes they depicted. I enjoyed the surprise ending in Good Puppy, Naughty Puppy, Sad Puppy, Happy Puppy by Florence D. Blanding and felt it was an appropriate way to wrap up Tommy and Wolfie's story on a happy note.
