When the travel bug hits you, it hits hard. It didn’t hit Jeffrey Groberman early in life; some events turned him off travel. That is until he suddenly got the urge to discover something new and exciting. After all, he now had a daughter working for the airline industry and she was terrified of flying, so why couldn’t he, terrified of traveling, overcome his fear and find some real adventures around the world? Although traveling can be fun and definitely an adventure, it can also be aggravating, frustrating, and totally unpredictable. What every traveler needs is a good traveling attitude; add a little dash of humor and even the worst travel adventure can become a momentous one.

Jeffrey Groberman’s travelogue, Grobetrotting: Travel the World Laugh by Laugh, is an adventure in itself. This will have you chuckling along with the author’s adventures or more likely misadventures as he explores some fascinating parts of the world from Cook Islands in the middle of the Pacific Ocean to Haida Gwaii off the coast of British Columbia, and from Vietnam, China, the Philippines and so many other Far Eastern countries, to the simple pleasures of river rafting with friends in Canada’s northern territories. If something is likely to go wrong, it probably will and usually does, but with this quirky traveler, each misadventure is accompanied by at least a chuckle or two. Written conversationally, as if the author is sitting down next to the reader, sharing his stories, he definitely has the knack for storytelling sprinkled with lots of humor. Complete with engaging photographs, the book is, quite simply, a fun read. Loved it!
