Happiness as an Independent Variable by George Allen Blacken is a book that discusses one of the often misconstrued concepts and emotions of humans: happiness. The author starts this inspirational book by asking the question: “What makes you happy?” This is a question that many people ignore and one that many can’t actually give an answer to, but with an authoritative and compelling style, the author offers a powerful alternative, an interpretation of happiness that will create a path for many people to discover what drives them and how to pursue real happiness. In this book, readers will understand why happiness is an independent variable, what independent variable means, and how it can be applied to their lives.

Combining scripture, common sense, and traditional wisdom, George Allen Blacken weaves a message that will delight and inspire readers, a message that is corroborated with compelling passages and references from the Bible. The reader will learn to connect more intimately with the ultimate source of their happiness — God — and will understand how happiness is a right they can claim for themselves. I found this book to be very interesting and the author offers insights and perspectives I haven’t considered in my own personal quest for happiness and meaning. The writing is beautiful, filled with insightful passages, and the author’s voice comes across clearly. Happiness as an Independent Variable is a well-researched, masterfully articulate book that contains gems of wisdom to help readers unlock the door of happiness in their lives. It’s a very inspiring read.
