I Dreamt of Love Poetry Collection is a collection of verses by M. Katherine Allen, Sharronne McNeil, and Sandra Mayer. The first 16 poems in this book are written by Mayer and focus on things such as love and gratitude. These pieces range from 3 lines to 3 pages in length and utilize multiple poetic formats. There is a small section of 3 poems in the middle of the script that is written by Allen and centers around patriotism, school, and thankfulness to God. Each verse features its own rhyme scheme that is unique unto itself. The third and final section is a group of 14 poems written by McNeil and includes a variety of poetry. Some have no discernible pattern while others have an irregular rhyme scheme.

I enjoyed reading I Dreamt of Love Poetry Collection though it was, in some ways, a mixed bag for me. Being that it’s an assortment from multiple writers and each poet includes their own strengths, weaknesses and individual styles, there isn’t a consistent tone throughout the book which leads to a broader range of appeal. I liked experiencing the breadth of thoughts and emotions that were portrayed effectively by each of the writers. All three poets effectively demonstrated a fluid style that didn’t fall into the trap of feeling repetitive. I believe I Dreamt of Love to be a well-written collection that makes its readers think deeply about its message. I recommend this book to any lovers of poetry but especially those who are believers in God. It’s a worthwhile collection to read in general but if the reader has similar beliefs to the writers, then the poetry is sure to appeal.
