I Like Pink! by Selina Hernandez is a wonderful book about two new friends who like many of the same things but also have their differences. As Kai and Mila get to know each other, they talk about things they like, dislike, and enjoy doing. They are happy to find things in common, but they also accept when the other person might not feel the same way about something. There is talk about colors, dolls, birthdays, and more throughout this book; Kai and Mila bond through these moments. I Like Pink! is a book that readers of a variety of ages and seasons of life could learn from.

I truly fell in love with this book. From the art to the dialogue to the sweet characters, everything about I Like Pink! was just amazing. One of my favorite parts of the book was certainly the illustrations by Georgia Pavan; the style reminded me of using crayons in a coloring book, and I really enjoyed looking at the pictures on each page. I also appreciated the fact that this book embraced the idea of self-acceptance. I think it’s a theme that is easy to forget, which can bring about conflict and sadness when children might not like the same things. I would definitely recommend I Like Pink! by Selina Hernandez to all families with children. Everyone is sure to find something in this book that they love, and maybe they’ll be reminded of the importance of self-acceptance as well.
