Isle of Tatsu: Sometimes Danger Follows You Home by Susan Foust is written for kids with an adventurous spirit. The story follows brothers Sam and Matt Sawyer. Matt, aged ten, and Sam, fourteen, were excited to take their family's 40-foot sailboat on an unsupervised week-long trip to the western coast of Australia. Although young, the boys were more than capable of sailing and enjoying their time while remaining safe. However, a storm throws the sailboat off course, and the brothers land on a strange island. Scrambling to find water, food, and shelter, they are attacked by a strange creature that injures Sam. Now, it's up to Matt to protect Sam, survive the hostile environment of the island, and figure out a way to get back home. However, nothing is easy on the Isle of Tatsu, and Sam and Matt are going to find that out the hard way.

Incredible, action-packed, and fast-paced, Isle of Tatsu was an immersive, entertaining story from the very beginning. The chapters were short, but that didn’t hinder the plot or the development of the characters. Sam and Matt were incredibly mature for their ages, and that was surprising to me. Author Susan Foust did an incredible job of making sure that readers had characters they could relate to and idolize at the same time. The imagery was detailed and rich, which made me feel like I was on the island with the brothers. The dialog was also fantastic, the story building out of this world, and the character development of the brothers even better. Young Adults and young readers are sure to love this story!
