Author Biography

J. Cornell Michel wrote a zombie book in order to face a childhood fear: corpses rising from the grave to hunt the living. Which is silly because zombies aren't real...yet.

Michel has turned into quite the horror fan, but is disheartened by the gender stereotypes portrayed in the horror genre. For this reason, Michel decided not to reveal the protagonist's gender in "Jordan's Brains: A Zombie Evolution."

J. Cornell Michel writes for Zombie Guide Magazine and recently finished writing a second zombie novel. Michel co-wrote a zombie Christmas story with Anne Barrett, which will be published in 2014.

Jordan's Brains: A Zombie Evolution by J. Cornell Michel is about zombie obsessed Jordan who lives in Gardner House, a psychiatric hospital in Maryland. From a young age, Jordan has been obsessed with zombies and everything about them, even going so far as to make a fact booklet about what to do if zombies were to invade: how to plan and organize escape routes to family, run drills, and have a survival kit ready in the closet. Jordan is completely ready for zombies and is just waiting for them to arrive, but finds that zombies aren't quite what the movies and books portray them to be. Jordan finds that everything they know about zombies is wrong and lives through an interesting experience while the zombies are terrorizing humans.

Jordan's Brains is not your average zombie book. These zombies aren't stupid and they manage to retain some parts of their human selves after being infected, even being able to remember where they stashed their family and how to get to them. Jordan's Brains is extremely well written and goes into vivid detail about what Jordan experiences, and it put me right there with Jordan through everything. The thing that makes Jordan's Brains such a good book is that it doesn't proceed along the lines of what everybody says zombies are like. It puts a completely new spin on the entire zombie thing. It's refreshing and an amazing and enjoyable read. The mystery of the book is Jordan's gender. J. Cornell Michel never reveals Jordan's gender and I can't figure out male or female.

I loved this book and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a unique and funny story - even if you have no interest in zombies. I had never even read a zombie book before and was expecting something completely different.
