Josephine's Game is a young adult horror novel by Clayton Tune that tells the story of Iylah and the nightmares she has faced over the past few years. When her mom finally talks her into babysitting again, Iylah knows she isn't ready – not after the tragedy with Shelby last year. But it's a teenager this time, so she caves and promises to give it a try with Cole. Unfortunately, the evening turns out to be eventful once a board game appears. Iylah and Cole are forced to play the game as dark forces take control of their lives and the world around them. The girl who created the game has a sinister message for them, and she won't give up until they finish.

Josephine's Game sucked me into Iylah's world instantly and reminded me of a combination of the movies Jumanji and The Ring, with a board game taking control and a vengeful spirit. I think that Clayton Tune's creation was way better than either of those, and I would love to see this book portrayed on the big screen. With a jumbled timeline, Iylah's history and the backstory for the events that led up to the present are slowly revealed. I was terrified and stunned by the revelations that gradually came to light. This is a perfect example of how a good horror story should be told. I highly recommend this book to horror lovers, and I can't wait to read more from this author.
