Author Biography

I am an earthling. I was born on one continent, raised on another and I live now in the middle of nowhere.
As a denizen of Earth, I believe in fairies and cats.
This drove me to cultivate contemporary fairy tales, and by that I mean real stories involving fairies.
"Kea, The Third Way" is my first novel. Expect more unbelievable accounts of our ecosystem and all its inhabitants.

Kea, The Third Way by Alki Nea is an adventure story about Kea and Leo who are childhood friends. They find their lives on a fast track after Kea changes. Gone are the sleepy lives they led in the suburbs. They see themselves in a world of fantasy and realize that the world is soon going to be wiped away, similar to something that happened years back. And they realize it is caused by humans.

This is just not another frivolous adventure story with fairies and monsters and other things. This deals with a very relevant theme; the destruction of earth by humans themselves. The theme is very powerful and the author has handled it extremely well. It's highly imaginative but also intriguing. The fairies, monsters and the other imaginative creatures add to the appeal of the story and make the book fast paced.

The theme of global warming, our dwindling nature, and pollution makes this book very attractive. There is no better way to convey the messages in this manner to children and it is an important issue happening currently that children should be aware of. The imagery is wonderful. Adventure stories always reveal the imaginary and creative talent of the writer. It is not easy to create new characters that are magical and make them appealing to children.

The book is a call to the readers to save the world by doing their bit. That makes it much more credible than the usual adventure tale.
