King’s Anarchy is an outstanding espionage thriller by Eric Lynch. Professor Morgan Abbott recruited some of his former students to join an anti-federalist group. Julie was the group's newest member, and Morgan made the group commit acts such as grand theft auto. The group’s tasks included robbing bookies and loan sharks. It was a successful business until a rift developed between the members. Amanda is a rehabilitated drug addict and was sent back to rehab after a relapse. Mark has a problem with Amanda. He wanted her out of the group and would stop at nothing to get rid of her. After her release from rehab, Amanda was on suspension, but her return affected the group dynamic. The split within the group escalated, and Morgan could not stop it.

King’s Anarchy was complex and intriguing. Eric Lynch took me on a rollercoaster ride of betrayal, drug abuse, and some racism. I was hooked from the start and could not put the book down. I kept turning the pages as fast as possible to discover what would happen next. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. The characters were authentic and relatable. They were part of a group but did not fit in, although when they committed a crime they worked well together and got the job done. The story was well-written, and I was engrossed. There were so many twists and turns that I never saw the ending coming. It was a fitting end to a captivating story.

The work is best suited to the mature reading audience owing to scenes of a sexual nature, graphic violence, drug use, discriminatory language, and explicit language throughout. Penned by author Eric Lynch, this compelling, gritty, and exciting work follows Morgan Abbott, a USC professor who seems solid on the surface but actually operates a criminal ring comprised of his former students. Those with a talent for thievery find their way into Morgan’s secret ranks, but Morgan struggles to keep control when a rift appears between them. In the wider city, riots brew between civilians and police, further adding to the chaos that Morgan and his fractured group are headed into.

Author Eric Lynch knows how to pace a thriller for maximum effect, and there’s never a dull moment in this truly un-put-downable adventure. The whole work gave me Kingsman vibes, with its slick attitude to crime and logical, cool reasoning in the characters and their group dynamic. I love that flavor for espionage work, and it lends itself well to the author’s natural wit and dry humor underpinning many of the characters. I liked Morgan immensely, even though arguably one shouldn’t like a lot of things about him, and this made the plot all the more engrossing as he sinks deeper and deeper into trouble that he once thought he had under control. The tensions run high with every chapter, and overall I’d highly recommend King's Anarchy for action and thriller fans seeking maximum thrills.
