Kisses of My Enemy is the third book in the Harry Ferguson Chronicles by William David Ellis, a gorgeous treat for fans of well-plotted fantasy novels. This author demonstrates a powerful creative mind, weaving a yarn that melds different elements together to create a wonderful reading experience: time travel, history, and magic. Harry is a time traveler with the mission to destroy one of the deadliest technologies of the Nazis. They are conjuring up a demon who is supposed to give limitless power to their soldiers and the witch belle Rodum is charged with protecting it. There is a twist, for the witch falls in love with this time-traveling dragon rider, yet she must destroy him. Thousands of years away, a woman pines for Harry. She is Sarah and she visits him in his dreams. But she is also trapped in her time for the survival of her kind. Can she protect Harry? Can Harry beat the witch and accomplish a deadly mission entrusted to him?

This is, indeed, a fascinating story and I enjoyed the way the author builds the conflict. He uses the idea of forbidden love to raise the stakes. The protagonist is in a very tight spot and the reader follows his motivation keenly and wants to know what happens to him. I was curious from the beginning with the powerful description of the protagonist, waking up to pain and cold, strapped to a steel table. I wanted to know why and who he is and what happens next to him. The historical hints are strong and are evocative of the devious schemes of the Nazi regime. The gorgeous writing got to me quickly and I enjoyed the lyrical character of the prose. Some of the passages are so beautiful in themselves that readers will pause to savor them a bit longer. Here is an example: “Longing for the darkness of hypothermia, he drifted, easing into its dark clutches, but then he heard through the chatter of his own teeth a song.” Kisses of My Enemy is a delightful read with powerful plot points and an ending that wraps it up so well.

In Willliam David Ellis's Kisses Of My Enemy, the nameless one had been sealed in Tartarus long ago and the key entrusted to humanity. Occasionally, from time to time, there are those who find the means to unlock this prison, liberating the terror from within. Now is one of those times. With Germany set to fight against Russia, Bella knows they must be triumphant, and yet, her loyalty is torn. Harry, the dragon rider, is crucial to the unleashing of this beast, and she is the bait to lure him to precisely where he needs to be. There is just one problem, she loves him. In one of the future timelines, they have a child, a future together. Will she follow her heart or will the destiny she feels seal Harry's final end?

Kisses Of My Enemy is the third book in Willliam David Ellis's the Harry Ferguson Chronicles. While I feel I would have enjoyed this more had I previous knowledge, the story still works well on its own. As with many novels with alternating timelines, watching events unfold can be fascinating, that, when combined with the tales from countless characters in their own differing battles, struggles, and timelines makes for a long-spanning and involved read. I thought the characters were well-developed and interesting, each possessing their own distinctive personality. The third-person writing style runs smoothly and allows the reader to smoothly navigate the journey while wondering what the future has in store, and if that we now witness will change as things in the pass also alter. Action, heartbreak, danger, and a looming threat drive a character-orientated plot where the final outcome is never certain.

Kisses of My Enemy is the third book in the Harry Ferguson Chronicles by Willliam David Ellis. This is the story of a man who time travels and is in love with a shape-shifting dragoness who is out of his reach by years. To say that Harry’s life is a little overwhelming would be an understatement. He is a time traveler and he is in love with a woman who is just a thousand years out of his reach. They have to make do with visiting each other in their dreams. As he tries to battle his confusion about someone who he didn't expect to ever have such an impact on his life, Sarah (his love) is trying to help a king so that his people can survive. To make matters worse, he seems to have caught the attention of a witch called Belle who was supposed to kill him. She is entrapped by him, she likes him a lot, but Harry’s heart belongs to Sarah. However, should he make a very powerful woman his enemy? Is there any way he can make Belle his ally?

Kisses of My Enemy by Willliam David Ellis is a delightfully refreshing and entertaining novel. I have not read the previous novels in the series, yet I had no issues connecting with the characters and enjoying their journeys. Harry is a very likable character, he is a smooth talker and a smart worker. He knows what works and what doesn’t; he is an observer so he knows what he needs to do and is not afraid of taking risks. Sarah, on the other hand, is a calculating risk-taker; she only takes risks when she knows she will be able to defend it properly. However, my favorite is Belle. She is sassy, she knows what she wants and she is not afraid to go after it. I loved her dialogues, I loved her sass and I loved how she fought for Harry’s heart. The narrative is great, the pace is fast and the dialogues were fun (especially Belle’s). Reading this novel was an entertaining experience, one that I enjoyed a lot more than I expected!

William David Ellis skillfully pivots the story Kisses of My Enemy from different timelines and characters so the reader can follow the events as they unfold. Harry Ferguson has gone back in time and relives a momentous instant when he is lured into a trap. They need him to unleash a dark evil that makes even witches tremble. Will he live through another round of torture and betrayal? Lizzy is meeting friends of her father and getting reacquainted with an old friend, all while nurturing and directing her library munchkins. Belle is facing her own trials and the decisions she makes could be the death of Harry and her daughter, Lizzy. Sarah is torn between two loves and finds there is no suitable answer. As these key characters face demons in different timelines and places, the reader wonders how Harry will receive the help he needs, and will it be in time to save him?

One point I loved about the plot of Kisses of My Enemy by William David Ellis is that the main character doesn’t remember events in his previous lives. Harry Ferguson can revisit the same era with the same people, but he never remembers the outcome. That is why he kept journals. This allows the author endless possibilities within the Harry Ferguson Chronicles. There are some constants within his conscience; his soul-mate Sarah, daughter Lizzy, and the witch Belle who is the mother of his daughter. Each chapter ends on a cliff hanger as the characters face unknown danger. The characters continue to develop and grow some unleashing talents they didn’t know they had. Overall, this novel will satisfy anyone who enjoys an adventurous fantasy. The author will seize your attention until the story chases the evil down and sets the world right, yet will anything be the same?

Kisses of my Enemy by William David Ellis is the third book in the Harry Ferguson Chronicles. Harry’s latest adventure finds him on a mission to destroy a demon that the Nazis are summoning to gift their army with dangerous power. This mission pits him against Belle Rodum who has a job of her own to do: to destroy him. Sarah is a dragoness that visits Harry in his dreams and now she has her own mission when an alluring king seeks her help. This puts her at a crossroads with a choice to make. She can leave and save Harry which risks the lives of several, or help Kusaila save his people, knowing that if she stays it may cost Harry’s life.

The third installment continues to deliver moments that are action-packed, full of adventure, and an exciting journey throughout time as Harry goes up against the Nazis. Harry is a time traveler that’s facing his biggest problem yet when the Nazis raise a demon to use its power to strengthen their army. William David Ellis delivers a unique history with elements that are a blend of dragons, demons, and Nazis, woven together to create this unique world that pulls you into the adventure with the characters while creating an addictive read.

The story is told through various perspectives that weave together through coinciding journeys spread throughout time and tell the story through various voices. Sarah’s journey finds her torn between the past and the present with her heart drawn in two directions as she visits Harry in her dreams and Kusaila gives her a new purpose. Though she wishes to be with Harry, the other part of her heart is stuck in her present as her role as a hero is called into action to help save Kusaila’s people. Kisses of my Enemy is another thrilling adventure in the life of Harry Ferguson as Ellis continues to bring to life a world of time travel and dragons with action, romance, and battles.
