Legacy Girls, part of the Jaycee Wilder series, by Jennifer Vaughn, tells the story of Eve, a young girl at a select and elite boarding school, who mysteriously disappears. Enter Jaycee Wilder, a TV journalist who happens to be related to the missing Eve, and who promises the family to investigate the unexpected and out of character disappearance. There then follows a page-turning mystery as Jaycee enters the world of the wealthy and privileged as she uses all her guile and experience from her role as an investigative journalist to uncover the whereabouts of her missing cousin, and at the same time expose a corrupt and secretive group that hides behind the mask of normality.

The author, Jennifer Vaughn, has woven an intricate tale that has readers on the edge of their seats as they enter a world they hope doesn’t really exist, but suspect that perhaps it might. The writing is immaculate, with incredible descriptive details of everything from a simple facial expression to the settings and buildings housing the story, from the amazing landscapes of New Hampshire to the sterile and opulent Holy United Academy. Every character is unique and expertly described, from the state of their shoes to the number of buttons on their shirt, but not overdone at all. An excellent piece of writing that enthralls and the ending does not disappoint. Well done to an author who has the ability to take the reader straight into the world of her protagonist. Definitely an author to watch. Loved it!

Legacy Girls: The Jaycee Wilder Series by Jennifer Vaughn is a suspense thriller. Jaycee Wilder left her home a long time ago, but she soon heads back when she finds out her young cousin has disappeared from her boarding school. Jaycee knows what it is like to be in the clutches of a crazed serial killer and, despite being estranged from her family, she doesn’t want anyone else to go through what she did. The life she heads back to is one known only to the privileged few, but beneath the shining exterior presented to the world is something seedier. As she digs deeper, looking for her cousin, Jaycee uncovers a “pay for play” scheme and, following the trail with the help of James Barton, a trusted source in the police force, Jaycee finds herself in a race against time. Can she save her cousin from a fate that is possibly worse than death?

Legacy Girls: The Jaycee Wilder Series by Jennifer Vaughn is an edge of the seat read, a book that takes you on a terrifying yet thrilling ride through every emotion. This is one of those stories that, once started, you won’t put down; a story that races through hair-raising twists and turns, unexpected surprises, some not so nice, at every turn and doesn’t stop until the brakes are hauled on at the end. The plot is incredibly intricate yet clear, you always know exactly what is going on and who is involved. The character development is excellent, everything you need to know about the characters and who they are is right there, woven into this tale of suspense. Fantastic story, definitely an author to watch in the future – I will certainly be reading more of her work! Highly recommended for fans of the suspense genre and anyone who wants a decent story to get their teeth into.

Legacy Girls is a delightful entry in The Jaycee Wilder Series by Jennifer Vaughn and it is a mystery that clearly establishes the author as a star in the genre. It has been years since Jaycee Wilder, a Los Angeles TV reporter, left her hometown in New Hampshire after a horrible encounter with a serial killer. Now she is returning on a mission that compels her to confront her fears, coming back to a family she’s left behind because it now needs her more than ever. Her teenage cousin, Eve, has gone missing from her boarding school. Jaycee is pulled into a world that is strange, wading through Eve’s circle of friends who are secretive and strangely distant, and she must use her journalistic skills and intuition to find the trail that leads to the truth. But is she ready for it?

Jennifer Vaughn has a style of writing that literally has the reader’s eyes glued to the pages. She knows how to toy with the emotions of her readers as she leads them from one surprise to another, making them believe that the gem could be found in the next stop ... just to make another surprising twist or turn. Her characters are rock-solid and I loved the protagonist, Jaycee. She might know what she wants, but she develops her confidence slowly, having to face her fears and to keep putting one foot in front of the other. Yes, she is real and very believable. From the colorful setting to the gripping plot, to the gorgeous prose, to the huge conflict, and the memorable characters, Legacy Girls is every bit a success.
